Journaling and Healing

with Lin Wei

A story of the woman who has done a beautiful thing for Jesus, pouring expensive ointment to prepare Him for burial. This woman sees, she understands Jesus is going to die before He went to the cross. Jesus sees her. In His love, He allowed her to pour the ointment on His head, protected her with words in the midst of disciples who saw and were indignant. In this story, there is much seen from Jesus, the woman, and the disciples. What about your own story? Do you need a re-write a story re-shaped by His seeing?

Global Creative Day is a week before Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Resurrection Sunday. Come as you are, listen to this story from Matthew 26:8-13 read to you slowly. With guided reflection, may it inspire you to write/draw/journal your own story? We are all from different parts of the world, coming to God through this story, “wherever this gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what [this woman] has done will also be told in memory of her.” While you journal, in memories of your story, there will be a gift of silence and solitude. It is a space to let God lift a prayer within you. As you slow down, He may bring your attention to something that has been buried, and lets you see.
Lin Wei is quiet, comfortable with tears, and loves to listen. She enjoys retreats, spiritual formation, and pondering over words. She studied design in school. She can be found reading children's picture books in Singapore libraries, grateful for how stories and illustrations come together in these books. Art is an expression of what is inside her. She writes notes and doodles while she writes. As a form of therapy, journaling helps her share her heart, and through writing or drawing out her inner heart, she remembers God in her story as she becomes attentive to herself and God.

(Word & Art) has shaped her art – God’s Word ( ) inspiring her art ( ); and words in her heart expressed as art.
