Orality

with Birte Papenhausen

Rooted in Reality : how to share the best news in context

Since the Reformation Protestants and Evangelicals talk about faith and theology mainly in abstract and cognitive ways. Communicating biblical truth and faith with stories, arts, biographies and symbols has to be rediscovered and needs to come out of the shadows. This workshop shows how most people like to learn and why oral communication is key to bring the truth into people’s hearts and lives.
Birte Papenhausen is a drama-theologian, missionary with WEC, and member of ArtsRelease. Combining her three passions: drama, theology and different cultures, she inspires faith through theatre so that the Bible is better understood, God is loved more deeply and faith is lived out in everyday life.
Her desire is to pass on her knowledge and passion for God and theatre by training others. She teaches orality courses and is on the staff at Cornerstone Bible School in the Netherlands. Her teaching and performing takes her to different countries and continents and shows in very practical ways how theology can be communicated in very concrete, daily life and understandable ways so that oral learners and others get encouraged, challenged and inspired in their spiritual walk with God.
